Grayscale PDF
Convert to black & white to shrink scans and cut printing cost.
🔒 On your device
How to use it
- Drop a scanned PDF onto the upload area.
- Choose a resolution — lower DPI gives a smaller file.
- Press Grayscale PDF and download the result.
Troubleshooting
It refuses and says the PDF isn't a scan.
Greyscale works by re-rendering each page as an image, so it only shrinks scans. On a text PDF it would grow the file and make the text unselectable, so the tool stops instead. To print in black & white, use your printer's greyscale setting.
Frequently asked
Does it keep the text selectable?
Grayscale rebuilds pages as images, so it's ideal for scans. For native-text PDFs where you need selectable text, use Compress instead.
